佛說:「不應落入二邊之任一極端-不放縱;亦不求過度的自身修正」。不使自己倍感艱辛或苦行。應於中道，不過份求好，也非墮壞。

The Buddha had said, you should not fall into two either of extremes. You should not fall into the extremes of self-indulgent or not extremes of self-modification. You should not put yourself into a sort of hardship or austerities. A measure in between, not too good or not bad.
